The Teacher in Residence Program is a collaboration between Flinders University, the University of South Australia, TAFE SA and the Advanced Technology Project. This program has strengthened the relationship between the engineering faculties of both universities and STEM teachers from targeted high schools. The Program provides an opportunity for teachers to link with researchers and academics in specific areas of interest.
Teachers learn about cutting edge research, equipment and industry trends through work shadowing, mentoring and meetings with university staff. They have the opportunity to develop connections with the university which is a great advantage when engaging students and raising their achievements.
Teachers also have added knowledge and skills to take back to their schools and enhance their students’ learning experience, and advocate for university STEM related offerings.
