Tomorrow, 8 February is Safer Internet Day and this year’s theme is ‘Play it Fair Online’.
With many students starting the school year online, this is a great opportunity to raise awareness of online safety and develop strategies to keep students safe online.
How you can get involved
- access eSafety’s classroom resources, including lesson plans, toolkits and student voice surveys. For Safer Internet Day a new suite of video-based classroom resources featuring Australian athletes have been launched.
- sign up to the Be an eSafe kid: Your voice counts primary school virtual classroom webinar. For junior primary students there are also resources to support creating a class tech agreement.
- promote the free live parent and carer webinar and video schedule which covers topics and simple tips to keep children safe online.
For more information, additional resources and activities, visit the e-safety Commissioner website.
Now is a great time to review the department’s Protective practices for online learning and Responding to Online Safety Incidents in South Australian Schools guidelines.
