Dear Student wellbeing leaders
The federal government has advised that from today all non-essential mass gatherings of more than 500 should be cancelled. The Department for Education has a duty of care to provide you with a safe and healthy workplace.
We regret to advise you that we will postpone the professional development day for Student wellbeing leaders. We will reschedule the March event at a later date.
We understand the timing is short notice and not ideal. We will support your vital student wellbeing role in other ways.
What we plan to do
- Keep you informed.
- Be accessible to you in other ways.
- Give you ways to stay connected.
- Work on responses to the excellent questions you submitted.
These have been grouped into themes such as:
-
- department advice and policy
- how to deal with suicidal ideation
- immediate or crisis responses
- postvention - supporting staff, young people and families
- effective prevention strategies
- services and community supports
- self-harm
- parents – difficult conversations
- supporting diverse students
- relevant curriculum
- training and research
